JerryRigEverything (YouTube Channel) performs durability tests on most of the smartphones and tech gadgets launched worldwide. Recently, Zack Nelson from JerryRigEverything performed the durability test on the OnePlus 10 Pro and the results were unexpected. OnePlus 10 Pro was launched for the Chinese market back in January and is yet to come to other markets.
Zack from JerryRigEverything performed the durability test to determine the resistance of the phone. The OnePlus Phone was put through a series of rounds like scratches, burning, and bent tests.
The phone performed well through the scratch test and burn test. The phone passed the Mohs scratch test up to level 5, and at level 6 scratches started appearing. There were deeper grooves at level 7 of the test. Even the in-display fingerprint sensor works fine when scratched.
There is no official IP rating of the phone, but Zack demonstrates that the SIM card slot has some water-protecting gasket. In the test, Youtuber Zack Nelson of JerryRigEverything demonstrated that the metal frame utilized by OnePlus does not hold the paint after being damaged with the razor blade.
Zack also performed the burning test in which he lit a lighter and kept it under the display. The ALMOND panel on the device burned and got a permanent mark after 40 seconds of continuous scorching.
The bent test is where things got unexpected. The frame of the phone is made up of aluminum and so are the buttons, which are supposed to give a sturdy build to the phone. In the bent test when the OnePlus 10 Pro smartphone was bent from the center, it was broken in half. Despite the frame being made up of metal, the phone was not able to resist the bent test and it snapped in half. This was not expected from a flagship phone like the OnePlus 10 Pro.
The phone is yet to come to the global market, and as of now is only available in the Chinese market. Considering it to be a flagship device, one can expect sturdy built, but it clearly fails the bent test.
