One of the fastest-growing apps on Instagram Standalone IGTV app is officially discontinued from Instagram. On the latest post of Instagram, it is announced that the IGTV app is now discontinued and all the videos become Instagram videos. The company ensures that it wants to funnel all the video through the main Instagram app. The reason behind discontinuing the app may be the large investment in reels.
The IGTV app was last updated in August 2021 and now it is removed from Instagram. But still, it is available on the Google Play Store. If someone wants that app they can easily go to the Google Play Store and download it from there.
Even when the IGTV was launched it was intended to compete with youtube in a long format video and it is believed that the IGTV should have a separate app. But IGTV videos started appearing in the main feed which led to the discontinuation of the app. It may also discontinue the IGTV ads as the company is now focusing on the Reels.
Due to most of the focus and investment on Reels on Instagram, ads are currently not shown in the app. But later on, it seems that the ads will be added to the reels so that the creator can earn revenue from the reels.
